Frequently Asked Questions

There are no "dumb questions", just people who don't take the opportunity to sharpen their understanding of what to do or why to do it. We are trying to make you a tournament player of the highest order. Across our team and the networks represented by our coaching team we can probably give you an answer that you can use or at least a recommended path to find your way ahead. If the question you have to ask isn't here already, send an email and we will add it in.

01  I like to hit the ball hard, but my driver isn't always "on my side" when I am playing tournament rounds. How do I know when I should hit my driver or something "less than driver"?

All golf shots involve a specific target that have a width and a depth. Every club that you have in your bag will produce a shot (when a centre face strike) that will fly and run within those parameters. Your job is to know what these numbers are for your game. If you want to compare say your driver and 3 wood, play an 18 holes Aussie Rules Match Play drill on the practice fairway with player 1 your driver and player 2 being your 3wood. See which club wins the match, but make a detailed analysis of your shot pattern at the end of the drill. Look for your percentages in the 10 point area, the 5 right and 5 left areas, and the -20s both sides. Compare this with each club. Know what your highest percentage club is to "get the ball in play" in a 20 and 40m wide target. Make it even harder by playing 2 ball worst ball match play to see whether your shot patterns hold up under some more demand (pressure).
