The Academy of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship has assembled an incredible team of golf industry professionals to help you to become the best player that you can be. Our goal is to help you to get to the next level of the game by asking questions, challenging, educating, supporting and believing in you. Our team has expanded in 2022 with golf specialists from all around the world.
Nick Shan
Academy Coordinator

Assistant Director, Asia-Pacific, R&A. Nick came to the R&A via his role as Senior Tournament Coordinator at the Southern Africa PGA Tour. His roles within Asia include Rules, Tournament Director, and the Coordinator of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Performance Academy.
John Crampton
Technical Director / Sport Psychologist
John Crampton is a sport psychologist who has worked with over 50 sports at the national team level, and represented Australia at 2 Olympic Games. He has a cousin who came 2nd to Jack Nicklaus in 4 professional majors, so has been around elite golf pretty much all of his life. His ability to educate, inform, challenge, and support players is legendary in the world of golf. He has a big background in the application of technologies to athlete development programs, and is driven to help you to become the best player you can be.
Scott Barr
Short Game Specialist
Scott Barr is an experienced tournament professional golfer who has played the Australasian and Asian PGA Tours for many years. Scott brings a well earned reputation as a short-game specialist to the Academy. His role is to help players develop a short game that can be effective in a range of typical asian grass types and green complexes.

Andrew Welsford
Snot Shaping & Ball Flight Specialist

Andrew was the National Coach of the Singapore Men’s and Ladies National Teams (2012 – 2017) and has many years of experience in developing high performance learning programs. A key highlight was winning the Gold Medal at the 2017 SEA Games.
He brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to all aspects of coaching and has a high level of personal integrity, strong work ethic and excellent communication skills.
Andrew is the Head Teaching Professional at Federal Golf Club in Canberra. Andrew was a scholarship holder at the Australian Institute of Sport Golf Program in Melbourne.
Charles Davies
Golf Strength & Conditioning Specialist
Charles is a former professional golfer who has a Foundation Degree in Sports Science from Plymouth University. He played professionally in Europe, Asia & the Middle East. His playing career came to an end due to a recurring back injury. With a newfound passion for Strength & Conditioning and Recovery, he now focuses on functional fitness and rehabilitation, with an emphasis on Golf and other rotational sports such as tennis & hockey.
Fitness has always been Charles’ passion and he enjoys training clients of all ages to function better, helping them achieve all types of goals, from improving body composition, strength & mobility gains as well as improving cardiovascular capacity. His accreditation allows him to fully assess golfers of all abilities he works with and provide them with an in-depth training program. He works on aspects such as speed, strength, mobility & power with the aim of making his clients better golfers. He has worked with Asian Tour-playing professionals and members of the Singapore National Team, alongside golfers from all experience levels.

Ryan Lumsden

Ryan Lumsden grew up in St Andrews, Scotland, and has been involved in golf from an early age. A member of The St Andrews Golf Club, he was part of Scottish National Squads at junior level. Ryan completed an honors degree in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Strathclyde in 2001.

Known internationally for his pioneering work in 3-D coaching in golf, Ryan also is recognised as one of the leading data scientists specialising in golf. His work with
groups like Trackman and Zen Green Stage is redefining what elite preparation is all about.

Foundation Head Coach
Mark Holland has been an amateur champion, a professional tournament player, a builder of junior golf programs, a development coach, a high performance coach, the Head Coach of the Australian Institute of Sport Golf Program, and is a world authority on creating tournament players. He has specific interests in technical efficiency, applied power, spin control, shot shaping, decision making and functional anatomy in golf.
Andrew Rogers
Equipment Fitting Specialist, Acushnet
Andrew is a full vocational member of the Australian PGA with an Advanced Coaching Certification, Certificates in Sport Career Oriented Participation, a Diploma of Sport Coaching, and is a Level 3 Golf Coach.​ Andrew has completed multiple advanced training courses at the Titleist performance institute in Carlsbad, California. He currently runs the Titleist National Fitting Centre at Sentosa in Singapore.

Dr. Micaiah Meuer, DC is an evidence-based sports therapist who travels with the Asian and European Golf Tours. He specializes in sports therapy and musculoskeletal care, with a focus on spine related conditions.
