Notes from Practice Round #1

AAC Academy Coach Dubai Stephen Deane was on course yesterday and posted the following notes:

Golf course is extremely playable and soft. Important to factor in carry distances rather than total distances for short iron approach shots.

From on-course observation lots of the scoring clubs coming up short. Good chance the course will firm up as the week progresses but something to be aware of.

Putts from 6 feet and in very minimal to zero break, important to keep these inside the hole as mentioned during the Academy.

Paspalum rough around the greens can be tricky but please follow the simple A,B,C & D shot selection process and this will make it easier to be committed to each situation faced.

If there is thick rough hit the 4 shots: A / taking off the top of the grass with full face !! B / halfway down the grass / half open face cut and hold !! C / all the way to the bottom/ full open face low hands cut and hold ! D / ball on top off grass with grain into you slightly open face draw the shot !!!

Round 2 tomorrow would recommend 9 holes rather than the full 18 followed by some specific / focused range work if required. Important to be well rested and hydrated prior to round one on Thursday.

Cheers

Stephen Deane
